It's a blog about blog

The blog I find to review is called "Tempyra", its web address is www.tempyra.com. Tempyra designs in a beautifully simple blog way and maintained by blogger Sasha who is living in Australia now. She started the blog in July, 2007. Firstly, look at the structure of "Tempyra", it framed in a classic two column Word-press template with one of my favorite colour of green. And the blog gives reviewers some feeling like old fashion or cloth book cover. On the right top side, we can find recent posts, categories, quote of the week, blog-roll, meta, my stylefeed and Sasha's MeVu profile, which such friendly design save reviewer's time as they don't need to dig to get into the backstory and the content. At the lower part of this blog, there are some interesting widgets such as blogrush and google tools. And Also google advertisement is below that. On the left part of "Tempyra" is where blogger writes her content and pictures are frequently posted.

"Tempyra" has lots of interesting and attractive content. The blogger originally comes from New Zealand, as a New Zealander, she enjoys the greener life, and proud of her country with beautiful view and environment. So we can find she writes a lot issues about the environment and climate, for instance, on 14th December, the story tells the interesting effects of climate change and on 6th November, recycling is the issue Sasha blogging about. With these articles in the air, blogger shares her own feelings and thoughts about climate issues, and examines her own life and goals. Since the internet connects everyone and everywhere, no matter what the blogger writes, it refreshes people's mind and puts thoughts into works instead of telling the rest of the world what is happening.

Of course, environment issue is not the only thing Sasha writes on "Tempyra", other great elements of this site are traveling, clothing, eating, animals world and some interesting stuffs. For example, Monday Droolfest is one of my favorite feature on the site which Sasha talks a lot of vegetable dishes, and she provides detailed recipe such as the making of mango cake, snowpea salad and pumpkin soup, also Sasha gives her own reason and experience on why we should love theses dishes. Beside these articles, we also can know more about Sasha personally, for example, on the first day of 2008, she writes something about eight mistakes that she would not make in 2008, and her thoughts of the New Year. Some of the eight mistakes, I think everybody should take a look at it and follow her idea such as we should not eating fast food and go out for more activities instead of getting stuck indoors. The last thing I would like to recommend is the picture; well-written article with fine images underneath makes the whole reading and viewing time more enjoyable. On her last update, Sasha writes the content about "Postcards from Imperial Russia", and uses five retro looking postcards featuring wide open public spaces, mass public transport and beautiful buildings.
Over all, "Tempyra" is a very enjoyable blog, every time when you have a look at this site, and there are something can surprise and attract your attention

“Xin Nian Kuai Le” = “Happy New Year”

When the New Year is coming, it is always a good time to stop and think about change. But today I am not going to talk about what is my New Year’s wish. Instead, I would like to show every one how to say “Happy New Year” in other language. And it is cool to learn this. Here is the list:

Start with my own country,

In China, we say “Xin Nian Kuai Le”
In French, people say “Bonne Annee”
In German, people say “Prosit Neujahr”
In Greek, people say “Kenouios Chronos”
In Indonesia, people say “Selamat Tahun Baru”
In Japan, people say “Akimashite Omedetto Gozaimasu”
In Korea, people say “Saehae Bock Mani ba deu sei yo!”
In Russia, people say “S Novim Godom”

Actually, there are more ways to say “Happy New Year”, if you would like to know more, please chick the following web address. http://www.theholidayspot.com/newyear/wishes.htm

Atonement

On the second last day of 2007, I went to the movie and watched Joe Wright's movie "Atonement".

After the movie, I thought that "Atonement" was terrific, and it is a great movie as many other people think too. This movie purely based on poetry, from the dreamy and hopeful days of 1935 to the horror era of WWII, there are wonderful performances, lavish sets, thought-provoking moments and haunting themes.

Overall, I believe that “Atonement" is truly a masterpiece of cinematography. I will bet my money on "Atonement" for the Best Film Oscars in 2008.

Mango season, let's make a mango cake

At this hot summer season, mango is our Australian popular fruit, and also they are very cheap and all around the place. So I am thinking mango cake as one nice thing to eat and make. Here is the recipe:

Mango cake

10 grams of melted butter
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
1 large thinly-sliced mango
2 eggs
1/2 cup of castor sugar
1/2 cup of wheaten corn flour
1 tablespoon of custard powder
1/2 teaspoon of cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon of bicarbonate soda

At first, we should preheat the oven to 180 Celsius and lightly grease the sides of a 22cm cake tin. I prefer to use butter to do this rather than olive oil.

Now wait until the tin is greased, take the butter which should be melted now and pour it into the bottom where the butter will form part of the topping. Then put the brown sugar evenly over the butter and then layer on the mango slices.

After that, beat two eggs and the castor sugar into a bowl and mix them until is creamy and thick. And also to remember carefully fold the sifted dry ingredients into the egg and sugar mix.

Final step, put it into the oven and bake for about 20 minutes.
Doesn’t this sound good?
